NEBOSH National General Certificate- Classroom
The NEBOSH International General Certificate (2018) is a globally recognised and respected health and safety qualification, held by around 90,000 people worldwide.
Covering two core units, the General Certificate provides the key information needed by managers and supervisors to ensure their workplace remains safe and that workplace risks are minimised. In addition, the course is an excellent foundation for those aspiring to a career in Health and Safety, facilitating progression to further professional study and career development.
In line with legislation and guidance from the WHO (World Health Organization), the General Certificate teaches to the high standards required by health and safety professionals across the globe.

Who is the NEBOSH International General Certificate course suitable for?
This course is ideal for managers, supervisors and employees with health and safety responsibilities based outside of the UK. If you are based in the UK, we recommend the NEBOSH National General Certificate.
The course has no formal entry requirements.
Duration
The NEBOSH International General Certificate will involve a minimum of 65 taught hours and approximately 40 hours of private study and background reading.
When studied through in-house or virtual classroom learning, the course is 9 days.
Our classroom course timings are 09:00-17:00 Monday – Friday.
Course Programme
The NEBOSH International General Certificate consists of two Units:
Unit IG1: Management of Health and Safety
- Element 1 Why we should manage workplace health and safety.
- Element 2 How health and safety management systems work and what they look like.
- Element 3 Managing risk — understanding people and processes.
- Element 4 Health and safety monitoring and measuring.
Unit IG2: Risk Assessment
- Element 5 Physical and psychological health.
- Element 6 Musculoskeletal health.
- Element 7 Chemical and biological agents.
- Element 8 General workplace issues.
- Element 9 Work equipment.
- Element 10 Fire.
- Element 11 Electricity.
Assessment
The updated NEBOSH International Certificate course now features one written exam and one practical exam:
Unit IG1 (replacing IGC1) includes an open book, scenario-based exam which you can do from home.
Unit IG2 is assessed by a practical assessment, which is longer than the previous GC3 assessment at 3 hours.
If you are booking a virtual classroom course, your exam cost will be included within the price.
